Where Did the Week Go?

We've been in Wooburn Green an entire week now and can't believe it's zipped by so quickly. Where exactly the time went we have no idea, but it's always wonderful to report all of us are settling in quite nicely, thank you very much.

Jasper, John, Mew
Yesterday was our wedding anniversary and while we've never been a couple to celebrate it in a flashy or extravagant way, we did feel confident enough to leave our furry friends at home for just a few hours while we went exploring. We hopped the bus that took us to the Bourne End train station where we'd arrived last week from London's Paddington Station. From there we headed for the marina and the Thames (shown in the header photograph).

All along the river walkway are homes and this one's unique architecture caught my attention. See the curlicue wrought iron bits on the roof top? And look at the ornate gingerbread on the balcony to the left.

We could have walked for miles, but opted to return to the centre of Bourne End. Like Wooburn Green it's a small village, yet it has the necessary shops: grocery, pharmacy, barbers, hair dressers and even two gas stations which we've noticed are not as abundant here as in Canada. From here we opted to walk home and I'm so glad we did because I missed the exterior of this antique shop on the bus ride. Notice the vine growing on the wall.

Here's a close up of the sheep and two reindeer and a sled.

Along the way we passed the spot near where the River Wye empties into the Thames. The bridges on either side of a third vehicular bridge were picture perfect.

Between Bourne End and Wooburn Green we passed a number of lovely homes. Here's a few of those that caught my eye...

After a quick lunch we took Jasper to the park. This seems to be the hub of the town as it's where we end up chatting with other dog owners, walkers or families. On the right is the well equipped children's playground.

In spite of the 5C temperatures Jasper hasn't missed a single opportunity to chase the ball...

Or swim and play in the river.

In my book that makes him - Jasper the Wonder Dog!

From Buckinghamshire we wish you and yours a very happy and healthy New Year. May this be the year all your dreams come true. Cheers!
