Wine Caves

We're familiar with vineyards, but having two 'wine caves' directly across the street from us is a new experience. We watched the sun rise and set on the fields. Saw dandelions pop up overnight to add a blanket of colour while labourers began early each morning to prune the stocks and methodically work their way through the rows.

Modern Montpellier

Having toured historic section of Montpellier we wanted to explore the modern side of the city as well. The square known as Place d'Europe seemed the perfect place to begin. It's invigorating, inventive and inviting as can be seen from the glassed arc de triumph.

Historic Montpellier

One of the wonderful things about our current housesit is its location. It's on the outskirts of Montpellier and the city centre is just a 30-minute tram ride away. As a result we've ventured there on numerous occasions to explore both the new and modern metropolis and its historic downtown section.

Teyran

We noticed the small town of Teyran the first day we arrived at our current housesit. Perched high on a hill in the distance and visible above the vineyards it beckoned us to come for a closer look. So, that's exactly what we did.

Jacou

Confession time...we'd never heard of Jacou prior to arranging our current house and parrot sit. We quickly did a Google search, however, and discovered it's a small town of approximately 5700 inhabitants within easy commuting distance to Montpellier.

To France to Housesit

We arrived in France (the 25th country we've had the pleasure of visiting) less than a week ago, and we're already smitten. There's so much to see, experience and savour. Montpellier is situated on the Mediterranean it's history dates back to Roman times. This impressive aqueduct is within walking distance of the old section of the city.

Gaudi's Barcelona

It's rare to visit Barcelona without seeing Antoni Gaudi's amazing buildings. Known as Catalan Mondernism they are visible throughout the city.

A Day in Seville

Travelling from Lagos, Portugal to Montpellier, France we were fortunate enough to spend a day in Seville. We knew from the get go it would not be enough time to do the city justice, but we gave it our best shot and began with a hop on hop off bus tour.

A Little Paint & Metal

Since our days as cave dwellers humans have used paint and other objects to decorate their home and surroundings. Graffiti can be found in a number of places on the fortified wall that surrounds Lagos.
