Au Revoir

The end of a housesit is always a mixed bag of emotions for us. We look forward to the homeowners safe return and enjoy watching the reunion with their beloved pets. We also feel a little sad, however, because it's time for us to leave and say goodbye to those same pets of whom we've grown quite fond.

Jake and Petra made our Jacou housesit one the most enjoyable and memorable yet. It was a treat to wake up every morning and hear the boys chirping a cheery hello. We giggled at their antics whether it was Jake savouring each tiny morsel of a cracker or Petra splashing about like a goofy teenager in his bath water.

They were great company and spending time with them was an absolute delight. On our final day in France our gracious homeowners Katherine and Paul drove us to the Montpellier airport, but insisted on first showing us La Grande-Motte a beach resort on the Mediterranean. We stopped for a few personal photos.

Designed and built in the 1970s when Charles de Gaulle wanted to offer tourists a French alternative to Spain's Costa del Sol, the buildings are innovative while the beach is impressive. So impressive we went for a walk. Next stop was an outdoor restaurant for a delicious lunch (with wine, naturellement et merci, Paul!) and then we headed to the airport to catch our flight to the UK.

We can't thank our hosts enough for making our first housesitting assignment in France so very special. We sincerely hope our paths cross again.

After we checked into our hotel that evening I discovered an email with this attachment...

How sweet. We miss you guys, too. Au revoir, Jake and Petra!
