Old Fashioned Summer with Human & Furry Friends

Summertime in Ontario, Canada is often a roll of the dice. It can range from unseasonably cold temperatures with above average rainfall to hot and humid with little, if any, precipitation. This year reminds us of the summers we experienced in our childhood and we're savoring every moment. Even better we're housesitting while reconnecting with friends as we zigzag across the province. Of course summertime also means kayaking and that makes it a win/win situation - the proof is in John's smile!

Earlier this week we completed our second housesit of the summer for Dave and Flo while they vacationed at a cottage in the Muskoka region of Ontario. Their adorable pets include Julie Two, pictured in the header above with John, along with felines Missy, Boots, Peanut and Timmy.

During our two week stint we also met Sue and Doug for lunch and as always talked for hours. We visited Simcoe Ontario and spent a few hours with John and Judy at their new and beautiful retirement home. Jim and Rosella dropped by one afternoon and came bearing gifts. Rosella's homemade peach custard tart was to die for! Check out her incredible (and tasty) blog: Rhubard & Roses. And last but not least we had a delicious lunch with Mary Lou and Frank in Brampton. Definitely good times all around!

If there was a downside to the past few weeks it was that John did not get in quite as much kayaking as he would have liked. However, he did find a solution to combat his withdrawal symptoms. This 5-minute cure in the pool did wonders for his well-being and made me smile as well. Enjoy!

Life. Is. Good!
