Manchester-by-the-Sea's Singing Beach

I hadn't planned on another blog post until we arrived in Lisbon, but then Singing Beach happened and here we are!

When we returned to Ontario last week it was a balmy 17C. The mercury took a nosedive just before our flight from Toronto to Boston and continued to drop overnight. We awoke this morning to a thin blanket of snow on the ground. Sarah and Tim assured us it was only the second dusting this winter. Figures. We can't seem to escape the cold! In spite of the -12C temperature we headed to Singing Beach located in the picturesque town of Manchester-by-the-sea (Massachusetts).

Upon our arrival we spotted two wetsuit clad surfers. John questioned their sanity. I just laughed and snapped their photo.

Surprisingly they weren't the only people at the beach.

In spite of the brutal wind we walked the full length of Singing Beach - named because the sand makes a noise when walked on.

Dotted along the shoreline are some gorgeous New England 'beach' homes.

Afterward we drove to Beverly for lunch at A&B Burgers

Best burger E.V.E.R. and don't let the pristine photo below fool you. The place was jam-packed.

Fingers crossed the next time we visit our daughter and son-in-law we can replace winter coats, hats and mitts with shorts and sandals!
