North Hatley, Quebec

Last week we made the long trek back to Ottawa as we were on our way to Boston. Stopping along the way in North Hatley, Quebec made the 996 km drive not only easier to manage, but it allowed us to explore a small portion of Quebec's beautiful Eastern Townships.

From Elliot Lake, Ontario to North Hatley, Quebec - 996 km!

South of Ottawa the farm land is flat, flat, flat and as you can see from the photos below it's been a cool spring so crops are delayed.

Upon crossing the Quebec border we made a pit stop. New on the menu (at least at this Tim Horton's location) were mini omelettes so we had to have a taste. C'est bon!

We were more than happy with our Airbnb accommodation located on the upper level of the building below.

The interior is spacious and welcoming and we immediately felt at home. (The next five photos courtesy of Airbnb.)

This dining room comfortably seats ten!

We took full advantage of the full length porch that evening as the sun set.

Before doing that, however, we explored the quaint town of 750 residents. First stop, these shops across the street from our Airbnb.

Nestled in between the two buildings is this lovely gate.

Not surprisingly there were quite a few eating establishments in town. We counted four, but think there may be more.

Don't you just love her?!

Right next door to our Airbnb is a general store. Sadly, our timing did not permit a visit.

Walking past the General Store we discovered the library and saw some lovely homes.

Notice the rocking zebra on the porch!

My favourite flowers and my favourite guy.

North Hatley is situated on the north end of Lake Massawippi in the Eastern Townships and the setting could not be more idyllic.

Picnic anyone?

After a most enjoyable stroll we returned to our Airbnb, sat on the porch with a glass of wine in hand and watched the world go by. Then, John hit the hammock - a super way to end the day in charming North Hatley.
