Sagres Fortress

Sagres is the most westerly town in the Algarve. Its famous for its fortress, built in the 15th century, as well as being home to Prince Henry the Navigator's School of Navigation.

A Little Paint & Metal

Since our days as cave dwellers humans have used paint and other objects to decorate their home and surroundings. Graffiti can be found in a number of places on the fortified wall that surrounds Lagos.

Luz

Seven kilometres west of Lagos is the town of Luz or Praia da Luz. Originally a fishing village it has recently become a huge hit with British vacationers and the first thing we noticed when we arrived was a pub.

Lagos Tiles

Lagos is a visual delight from its sidewalks to pedestrian only streets to painted wall tiles added to the exterior of buildings. All showcase the vibrant personality of this amazing community.

Visitors to Lagos cannot help but be impressed by its beaches (or praias in Portuguese).

At Home in Lagos

The joy of travelling slow is the time it affords to wander and explore at one's leisure. Rather than feel like a tourist we're able to soak in the ambiance and view a community like a local. We buy our groceries in the same stores they do. We sip coffee or drink wine at an outdoor cafe, and stand in line as we all drool at the counter of a local bakery. 

Lagos Fish & Farmer's Market

We heard about the Lagos farmer's market on the first day we arrived in town and the past two Saturdays we've headed to the covered parking area next to the bus stop where the farmer's market is held from 7 AM to 1 PM.
