Lagos Fish & Farmer's Market

We heard about the Lagos farmer's market on the first day we arrived in town and the past two Saturdays we've headed to the covered parking area next to the bus stop where the farmer's market is held from 7 AM to 1 PM.

It's a busy, bustling affair with everything available from fresh fruits and veggies to figs, almonds, avocados, farm fresh eggs, guinea fowl, geese, roosters and more.

We purchased some veggies including a couple of sweet potatoes. We expected they'd be the same variation as we get at home. Not only was the inside flesh a different colour (olive green rather than orange) it had a different texture and sweeter taste. Yum!

Quite a few vendors offered bread and home baked goods while others sold honey.

Chili, garlic and onion woven into strands were everywhere.

With Tuesday being a bank holiday here in Portugal the market was particularly busy.

A few blocks away is the fish market. It's open weekdays as well as Saturdays.

We noticed this little dog outside waiting patiently for his owner. On our way back home we passed by the fish market again and guess who was still there waiting? It must be puppy love!

Speaking of love, whatever you're doing this Valentine's Day, make it special and spend it with the one who matters most.
