Yesterday we'd arranged to meet with some friends to visit Puddingstone Falls north of town. To do this involves driving in 26km off the highway via a logging road. With all of the recent rainfall, however, a wash out across the road ended our plans.
So, we opted for Plan B and drove a little further north on Hwy. 108 to Cobra Lake.
Along the way to the lakeshore we discovered the remains of a fireplace. This region was once home to a copper mine, now abandoned and all but forgotten except for this rather Hansel and Gretel-like structure.
For most of our outing it was cloudy and overcast. It even began to drizzle just after we'd had our lunch and decided to return to our vehicles. Luckily for us the sun found an opening in the clouds and we were blessed with one more glorious fall view. The colours are past their peak and many leaves have fallen, but it's still a lovely time of the year in the Great White North.
