April showers are always better than and April snowstorm in my humble opinion, so while today is dull and dreary I'll take it. Not only is the temperature above freezing (what a concept), but as each raindrop falls more of that white stuff disappears. Yeehaw!
We decided to go for a walk along Trout Lake Road this morning, and timed it perfectly. The rain held off until we had almost returned home. The photo above is actually on the way back. I held Keegan's leash on the first part of the walk, but we switched on the way back so I could take some photos. Of course, I didn't take them fast enough to suit Keegan, and every time I stopped, he stopped and refused to budge until I caught up.
North Bay's Trout Lake was once THE place for summer cottages, although now all-season homes are the norm. The house below is directly on the lake. As you can see the lake is still frozen over, but I expect that will change soon. (Fingers, ankles, eyes and legs are all crossed.)
All of these homes are different, and that's great. Cookie cutter homes work in some locales, but not so much here. Some homeowners opt to have as few windows facing the street as possible, like this one below.
Others take a more traditional view and face their homes to the road rather than the lake.
The next three homes are on the opposite side of the road. The natural, steep incline provides all of them with incredible views of the lake, and their choice of windows showcase their differing personalities.
Keegan, however, couldn't care less about the different architecture. Or the view. Shrubs, twigs, rocks and other (sometimes yucky) stuff is far more to his liking. He also has a need to mark his territory every so often, and he seems to be telling John "this" would be a great place to do his business!
When a few raindrops landed on the camera we realized it was time to head back home.
Don't tell Keegan, but I stopped along the way to take this artsy-fartsy photo. I quite like how the pine has browned over the winter, but I doubt he'd be impressed. ;-)
