Calm Winds, Kayaks & Sunsets

I was surprised it took John five entire days to plunk his kayak in the Gulf, but yesterday was THE day.

With calm winds and water, he paddled to the end of the peninsula that's home to St. Andrews State Park. It took him about an hour, and then he went for a swim.

Next on his strenuous day was a soak in the hot tub. (I took this pic from our balcony.)

One of the crazy, fun things about the beach is the restaurant next door.

Schooners is a great place to chill, unwind, and just enjoy the moment. Our first evening here we ordered the all-you-can-eat-grilled-shrimp dinner. (It was dee-lish.) Schooners also has three webcams that provide a 24/7 view of the beach and bar. Check them out. You might actually see us walking along the beach!

It's a tradtion at Schooners to fire a cannon every day at sunset. Not only does it pay tribute to another great day on the beach, it also signals the evening's festivities are about to get started inside. For a short video on the sunset celebration, click HERE. (Scroll down to the second video.)

Even though I'm well aware of the BANG, it always makes me jump! But what a gorgeous sunset.

Ahhh. Another perfect day in paradise.
