2019 Canadian Tulip Festival

The Canadian Tulip Festival ran May 10 - 20 this year, but Mother Nature arrived a little late to the party! Still, there were sufficient blooms to appease the 700,000 visitors who came to Ottawa from far and wide.

We went to Commissioners Park on Saturday, May 18 - along with about 100,000 others that day (according to those in the know who report such data). Whatever the exact number - IT WAS BUSY!

Everyone was taking photos and we spotted a number of wedding parties also out for a photo shoot.

Four good friends joined us that day, three of which are in this next photo. Doug (second from left) and I attended art college together in Toronto in the late 1960s, while we met Mark and Alan (on the right) via Doug and John (he took this pic) in 1994. Mark and Alan now live in Elliot Lake and are housesitters extraordinaire.

Ah, a bit of open space!

Mind you, the Tulip Festival was the least of reasons to celebrate - the main event was John's birthday. Happy day, happy year, John!

There were a great many laughs and we definitely had a super time with our dear friends. 💗 Thanks, guys!
