On May 7th we took bus 81 to the port of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and from there, walked along the coastline trail to the lighthouse (phare).
It's not a particularly long walk - in fact it can be done one way in less than 40 minutes - but because we've discovered that sometimes the coastal pathways along the Med can be more cobble than flat (and therefore more treacherous for those of us less surefooted - ie ME!) we opted to complete only a portion of the trail.
The beginning was a breeze and I crossed my fingers the flat concrete surface would continue all the way to the lighthouse.
Of course, that was not to be, and the concrete soon transitioned into a mixture of flat stones and mortar.
And that in turn morphed into irregular cobble stones - although not the really jagged kind that can sprain an ankle. 😊
It was quite windy that day and before we saw the helicopter we could hear the roar of its propellors. Upon closer inspection we realized it was delivering building supplies to a house being built further up the cliff.
On the return trip back to the village of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat we savoured the view of the coastline, the spectacular homes and mountains as well as the glorious sunshine. It was bliss!
