Belmont Lake

After we toured the Peterborough Farmer's Market yesterday we headed east, past Havelock, to Belmont Lake. Seeing all the possibilities of a kayaker's heaven, AND such a perfect day weather wise, John was determined to do some exploring.

Below is the public boat launch area. The marina is mid-photo, and judging by the amount of traffic that came and went I suspect quite a lot of cottages are boat access only.

John took all of these photographs while he toured the lake in his kayak. He very nearly reached the north end of the lake in the two hours he paddled. Some of the cottages are very close together...

Others are off on their own. The stone embankment below suggests this cottage owner enjoys his privacy. :)

Judging by the Adirondack chairs and wrap around porch, this cottage (below) could be a hub of activity from May 24 to Thanksgiving weekend. Think Party Central!

John also paddled inland onto Crowe River. This is in the same area we'll be housesitting come the new year.

It's hard to believe but tomorrow is our last day of farmsitting which means it's almost time to pack up and move on. We're amazed how quickly the days have flown by, and we certainly lucked out weather wise. We also had a wonderful time with friends far and near, and we've so much to be thankful for. We also want to thank our hosts for giving us this wonderful opportunity.

We wish each and every one of you a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
