Laurier Woods & Gifts

This afternoon Keegan suggested we hiked the 1.9 km orange trail at the Laurier Woods Conservation Area. He explained it's only a 12 minute drive from home, and still within North Bay city limits, so off we went.

It was a super day for a hike, not too cold, hardly any wind, and the light dusting of snow on the ground and trees made it picture perfect.

Toward the end of the hike we spotted this look out over the marsh, but with the near zero temps and sheer rock surface it was a little too slippery and treacherous for me. It was ultimately too much for Keegan and John as well. They turned back shortly after this photo was taken. We'll try again another day.

Speaking of marshes, this walkway allows visitors a close up and personal view.

I spotted these red berries, and of course have to share!

After our hike, the guys decided to venture outside to the hot tub. I'm not sure what they're looking at on the lake, but it obviously has them both enthralled!

Today was extra special for another reason.

First thing this morning (even before coffee!) Keegan insisted we open an envelope he'd addressed to us and placed on the Christmas tree. Imagine our surprise when we found two tickets for this Sunday's matinee performance of Ebenezer at the Capital Centre. How he ordered tickets and paid for them with his owner's credit card without their knowledge is truly miraculous, but we're ever so grateful!

Thanks, Keeg. We can't wait. :)
