Before leaving our gorgeous Airbnb cottage on day two (September 19th) of our mini Lake Superior road trip, we hit the beach for one last selfie.
Google Maps indicated our 363 km drive from Wawa to Nipigon would take us less than four hours. We left Wawa at ten in the morning, but did not arrive at our motel in Nipigon until at almost five in the afternoon. Granted, we made multiple stops along the way, but jeepers this province is humungous!
Our first stop of the morning was in White River, the home of the little black bear who was the inspiration for Winnie the Pooh.
Next stop was lunch at White Lake Provincial Park where we had the entire beach to ourselves.
The waves and wind were fierce at Pebble Beach in Marathon, Ontario and as we would be returning this way on our trek back to Elliot Lake we opted to wait until then to venture down to the beach.
Just west of Marathon along the Trans Canada the views were breathtaking.
From Marathon to Nipigon the Lake Superior vistas continued to awe.

At long last we arrived at our motel and we were ever so content to spend the remainder of the evening in our comfortable room and I was particularly grateful that it included a full kitchen AND that we had opted to bring along a cooler filled to the brim with home cooked food.
