Lake Superior Road Trip: Day 5 - Wawa to Elliot Lake

The final day of our mini road trip featured cool temperatures, but glorious sunshine as we said goodbye to the Wawa Canada Goose and headed south toward Elliot Lake.

The northernmost Lake Superior Provincial Park boundary begins just south of Wawa and once again we soaked in the beauty of its rugged terrain.

The Canadian Group of Seven painters were inspired by this incredible landscape and there are numerous spots along the Group of Seven Touring Route where one can learn more about these talented individuals. John asked me to take a seat at this easel showcasing a place that spoke to Lawren Harris. When I said I didn't have a paintbrush, he handed me a pine twig. Good enough!

Our next stop was Bathtub Island.

That large rock in the middle and near the horizon is Bathtub Island

Leaving Bathtub Island and Katherine Cove, we continued south to Sault Ste. Marie.

When we reached the north edge of the Soo, John stopped for gasoline. I spotted a couple of shops nearby and decided it was as good a time as any to stretch my legs. John joined me and who would ever have guessed these next few photos would be the final photo shoot of our trip!?!

From beginning to end our 2021 Lake Superior road trip was a thoroughly wonderful and memorable five-day adventure. Life. Is. Good.
